01/21/2012 - Kaupulehu-Kona, HI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Dan Forsman torched the back nine in 30 strokes Saturday to take the second-round lead of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship.

Forsman, who needed only nine putts on the back nine and 21 for the round, fired a seven-under 65 and finished 36 holes at 12-under 132. He leads by two strokes at Hualalai Golf Course, the site of the season-opener on the Champions Tour.

Tom Watson (65), Brad Bryant (64) and Jeff Sluman (66) are tied for second place at 10-under 134.

It was a tale of two nines for the leader on Saturday.

Forsman had a very average opening nine with eight pars and a lone birdie the par-five seventh. After the turn, he birdied 10 and 11, then played his final six hole brilliantly to surge to the top of the leaderboard.

At the 13th, Forsman's approach stopped nine feet from the hole and he poured in the birdie effort. He pitched his third at the par-five 14th to three feet and converted the short birdie putt to join the group in the lead at 10-under par.

After pars at 15 and 16, Forsman's tee ball at the par-three 17th came to rest 20 feet from the flagstick. He watched as his playing partner Michael Allen missed from a similar spot and the lesson paid off handsomely. Forsman poured in the birdie effort to take sole possession of first at minus-11.

Forsman's drive at the closing hole left him with a tricky angle to the pin, but it hardly mattered. He stuffed his approach inside four feet and rolled in the birdie putt to grab a two-shot lead.

"It was an exciting back nine for me," Forsman said in a televised interview. "I got off to a little bit of a rough start. The back nine I caught fire and finished 30 on the back for a 65."

Forsman endured through a rough 2011 season. He posted only one top 10, a tie for fourth at the Montreal Championship, but his 2012 has showed quite a bit of promise.

"I'm thrilled to be in the position I'm in," Forsman said on TV. "Early in the year, I'm getting started here. It's been magnificent at this point, hopefully it'll finish up nice tomorrow for me."

Allen bogeyed the last for a four-under 68. He is tied for fifth place with Jay Haas, who carded a three-under 69 Saturday, at nine-under 135.

Defending champion John Cook (67), Jay Don Blake (67), Denis Watson (67), Loren Roberts (70) and first-round co-leader Bruce Vaughan (71) share seventh at eight-under 136.

Points (or Runs) Scored

Another bet across all major team sports including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey involves wagering on the amount of scoring in a game, called an Over/Under total. For example, the Over/Under total on Super Bowl XXXIX was 48, which means a bettor could wager whether there would be more or less than 48 points scored by both teams combined in the game.

The final score of Super Bowl XXXIX was 24-21; the scoring of both teams added up to 45, which means the game went Under . So Under bettors won, and Over bettors lost.

Future Bets

For example, a 6-point teaser would move the line on a 7-point favorite from -7 to -1, meaning the team would have to cover 6 less points. In part two of MySportsbook.com’s draft preview, we’ll take a look at a division that was extremely disappointing last season: the NFC South.  Many “experts” predicted the Panthers to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, of course they could not even make the playoffs in an extremely weak NFC.  The Saints definitely made up for the disappointing seasons of their NFC South brethren by exploding out of no where en route to the NFC Championship game.  For the avid NFL gambler, it is imperative to pay attention to the NFL draft.  Although free agency gets a ton of publicity, the successful franchises build their teams around the draft.

1. New Orleans Saints
Who would have thought this time last year that the Saints would be the favorites to win the NFC South for the 2007 campaign?  New Orleans is loaded with firepower on the offensive side of the ball but with the exodus of Joe Horn they will most likely look to draft a WR on Day 1.  Despite having the NFL’s 3rd ranked pass defense last season, the Saints will most likely upgrade their CB’s with one of their first two picks. Other possibilities for the Saints will be TE and DT.  Because of where they will be selecting (27th), the Saints could go the “best available player” route which could net a LB.

2. Carolina Panthers
Carolina was one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL last season.  With the signing of David Carr, expect the very first quarterback controversy to come out of Carolina if Jake Delhomme doesn’t rebound quickly from an average 2007 season. With veteran safety Mike Minter getting up there in age, they will look to draft a safety on Day 1 but probably not in the first round.  LB is another need with the loss of Chris Draft to go along with Dan Morgan’s concussion problems.  If TE Greg Olsen is still on the board, he might be too good to pass up despite their needs on the defensive side of the ball.

3. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons were another NFC South team to have a disappointing 2007 season.  The Falcons have been plenty busy during the off season with plenty of players coming and going including a new head coach.  The Falcons were able to improve their draft position with the trade of coveted backup QB Matt Schaub.  High on the list of Day 1 needs will be a defensive end to replace Patrick Kerney and a hard hitting safety since Lawyer Milloy is nearing the end of his career.  With an additional 2nd round pick, the Falcons could attempt to trade up to acquire local product WR Calvin Johnson.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Age really caught up to the Bucs last season.  The Bucs still have plenty of household names on defense in Ronde Barber, Simeon Rice and Derrick Brooks but the one thing those three have in common is unfortunately age.  It is imperative for the Bucs to get much younger, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Despite having bigger needs on the defensive side of the ball, WR Calvin Johnson is the most likely pick if he is still available when the Bucs pick at the four spot.  This would suit Bucs’ faithful just fine as Johnson is widely considered the top talent in the draft and it is a position of need for the Bucs.
